John Delaney Endorses David Blair for County Executive

Rockville, Md., April 6, 2022 -- Former Democratic Congressman John Delaney has endorsed David Blair for Montgomery County Executive.

“We are fortunate that the leading candidates running for Montgomery County Executive are skilled and good-minded, but among this qualified group, I am supporting and voting for my good friend David Blair,” Delaney said. “David’s economic vision for the County, his experience as a successful entrepreneur and his work as a nonprofit and community leader together with his wife, Mikel, qualifies him to be the post-COVID leader Montgomery County needs at this moment in time.”

Delaney represented Montgomery County in Congress during three terms as the member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Maryland’s 6th District.

“David will leverage the talent in our extraordinary government institutions to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem focused on solving big problems like climate change and the growing risk of pandemics, and he will make tangible progress against important issues like affordable housing, health inequity, supporting our seniors and strengthening our public schools,” Delaney said. “David loves our County and wants to serve to make it a welcoming and inclusive community and the best place to live, raise a family and start a business in America.”

“Throughout his time in Congress and in his business career prior to elected office, John Delaney was an effective leader praised for his fact-based approach to economic, housing and environmental policy.” Blair said. “I’m grateful to Congressman Delaney for his public service and his support in this important election for the future of our community.”

Delaney joins former 8th District Rep. Michael Barnes, Maryland State Senate Majority Leader Nancy King (District 39), Maryland State Senator Cheryl Kagan (District 17), and former City of Rockville Mayor and 2018 County Executive candidate Rose Krasnow as current or former Democratic elected officials in Montgomery County who have endorsed Blair for County Executive.

The Democratic Primary for County Executive will be July 19, 2022. Early Voting will run from July 7 through July 14, 2022.
